Huna is name given to the ancient Hawaiian religion that was practiced in Hawaii prior to Christianity. There were many first person accounts of the various miracles these practitioners could perform…such as walking over white hot lava, repaired broken bones in days and many others. Much of the research is contained in a bunch of books written by Max Freedom Long.
What I enjoyed most about the teachings within those books is the simple metaphor taught to explain the role of the various parts of our consciousness in the manifestation process.
Here’s what I mean. The Hawaiian’s used to believe that we have 3 minds so to speak…a conscious mind (the voice we hear), a subconscious mind (the seat of emotions and memory) and the super-conscious mind (a mind beyond time and space capable of creating “miracles”).
The metaphor goes like this. Imagine that your conscious mind is sitting in a house on the ground floor. It can see out into the world through the windows. This is like your conscious mind which experiences the external world through the senses.
The subconscious mind is housed in the basement. It can’t see out into the world, nor can it make decisions. It does what it is programmed to.
There is a telephone line connecting the conscious mind to the subconscious mind. The conscious mind can use this line to direct the subconscious mind. In fact, the subconscious mind needs direction from the conscious mind…without that direction it’s blind.
So the first part of the metaphor teaches us the roles of our conscious and subconscious minds…what they’re capable of and what they have access to.
In the next post I’m going to go into detail on the second part of the metaphor which deals with the super-conscious mind and how to create miracles.
